Struggling towards the Good
|
ZartochrestianismZartochrestianism is a framework for a Zartian religion which resembles Christianity in some ways.Zartochrestianism is monotheistic in that it is based on the worship of one God. However it recognises that God has multiple aspects and can be approached in different ways. Three aspects of God that we could highlight are "God as Reality", "God as the Good" and God as something that connects us to Reality and the Good. A major way Zartochrestians approach God is through the Holy Trinity. This consists of Zurvan (the Ground of Being, the substrate of Space and Time), Auramazda (the wise creative and sustaining power) and Spentamentor (the educator of good mindedness). Chrestus Magtus - the 'Mighty Christ' or 'Mighty Servant of God' is considered the favourite son of Auramazda. Chrestus Magtus is the human consciously god-friendly (theophilic) or life-centred (prothalic) aspect of Auramazda. Chrestors are people who are consciously seeing to do Good and support the Good Order and the flourishing of life. Zartochrestianism is mainly seeking to help people become Chrestors. Zartochrestians recognise special Saints. Strictly speaking all Chrestors can be called saints, but there are a number who are specially recognised and venerated as setting a good example for others. The foremost three venerated saints are Zartus Rectus (Zoroaster the Righteous), Jesus Chrestus (Jesus the Good) and Georgius Fortis (George the Brave). The foundational scripture for Zartochrestians is the Zartigathas or Gospel of Zoroaster. However Zartochrestians may also use other texts from the Zoroastrian and Christian traditions and sometimes other traditions. We also write our own modern prayers and other texts. |
